  • Misty Hills of Mount Tamalpais State Park

Misty Hills of Mount Tamalpais State Park

As the rain cleared and the clouds began to break, the misty hills had a smoky look to them.

  • Hidden Bridge over Cataract Creek

    Hidden Bridge over Cataract Creek

This bridge seemed to blend into its surroundings since it has become covered in moss and other plants that frequent this damp forest.

  • Flower-Mouth Totem

    Flower-Mouth Totem

Taken just outside of the ocean-side town of Mendocino, this Totem seems to be guarding the town from the sea as it picks up a more beautiful smile.

  • Escape from Alcatraz

    Escape from Alcatraz

The Golden Gate and San Francisco seem so close to Alcatraz Island that it seems like you could swim there easily. However, as many individuals know, only a few may have escaped from the island.

  • Paradise Lake Sunset

    Paradise Lake Sunset

An amazing place to camp for the night in Tahoe National Forest. This lake is aptly named.

  • Golden Gate Fisherman

    Golden Gate Fisherman

A view a sunset over San Francisco Bay as a Fly Fisherman casts. The golden gate is in the distance.

  • Swift Creek

    Swift Creek

A hike through the Trinity Alps followed along Swift Creek. The granite boulders that lined the creek have been smoothed over the years.

  • Cataract Falls

    Cataract Falls

One of the larger falls along Cataract Creek. This combined grouping of falls is somewhere around 75 feet tall.

  • Cloudy Hills of Mount Tamalpais State Park

Cloudy Hills of Mount Tamalpais State Park

The broken clouds left some heavy looking clouds overhead with some smoky looking clouds emerging from the forest.

  • Falls along Cataract Creek

    Falls along Cataract Creek

A series of waterfalls along Cataract Creek just outside the busy streets of San Francisco. The area is frequented by individuals trying to escape the hustle of the city except for on rainy days.

  • The Tree of Life

    The Tree of Life

This Kapok Tree towered above the rest of the canopy near Uvita, Costa Rica.

  • Foggy Trail

    Foggy Trail

The aptly named Sky Trail at Point Reyes National Seashore does not disappoint. It seemed as though we were hiking through the clouds as we moved from forest to scrub along the coast.

  • Wardens House

    Wardens House

Only the walls are left in the Wardens House on Alcatraz Island. Parts of the island are well preserved whereas other areas have fallen to ruins. It is a well traveled place but is still eerie when walking around.

  • Fall Colors

    Fall Colors

After moving from the midwest, I was not expecting to see so many fall colors. The Trinity Alps did not disappoint! Here you can see the reflection of these great colors off Granite Lake.

  • STARS!!

    STARS!!

There are fewer and fewer places that you can see this many stars at night. One of the places you can is the Trinity Alps.

  • Granite Lake

  • So that's why they call it the Golden Gate

So that's why they call it the Golden Gate

  • Lake Tahoe Sunrise

    Lake Tahoe Sunrise

On an early morning, we rose for a triathlon. For me the Triathlon was amazing to watch but this made the early morning a little sweeter.

  • Mount Shasta

    Mount Shasta

After hiking for hours, and thinking we were close to our destination (we weren't really that close yet), we had great views over the Trinity Alps and could pick out Mount Shasta. The snow had made it all the way through the summer at this point on the mountain.

  • Swift Creen Boulders

    Swift Creen Boulders

This was one of the last shots I took on our first trip through the Trinities. It is amazing the size of these boulders and all I can do is wonder how they could have gotten here over time.

  • Mossy Trees and Trails

    Mossy Trees and Trails

Our party hiking down through the forest.

  • Alcatraz Island Officers Club

    Alcatraz Island Officers Club

Not sure if I would want to join that club these days without the roof...But I am sure that at one time it was quite nice. Alcatraz was not only home to prisoners. The families of the guards also lived on the island and their children took the ferry to and from the mainland for school each day.

  • Bear Basin

    Bear Basin

I don't think I had ever been on a hike quite like this one. As we went up in elevation we would come to these large open basin areas with tall peaks on all sides. It was an amazing sight to see.

    Cataract Falls Combined Photo

This shot of Cataract Falls is a mix of 5 individual shots that have been stitched together to get the widest view of this amazing falls.

  • Yosemite Falls

    Yosemite Falls

This shot has a special place in my memory bank. The day before taking this shot, we hiked to the top of Yosemite Falls and took in the amazing views of the valley from nearly 3000 feet above. We were also lucky to have visited during the spring when the falls were still flowing heavily.

  • Tenaya Creek

    Tenaya Creek

A small creek meandering its way through Yosemite Valley before connecting with the Merced River.

  • Bridal Veil Falls

    Bridal Veil Falls

  • Cypress Tunnel

    Cypress Tunnel

A black and white of the iconic Cypress Tree Tunnel at Point Reyes National Seashore. Created by Monterey Cypress trees that were planted in 1930, the drive to the historic KPH Radio Station has become completely enveloped by the towering giants. Typically crawling with photographers and tourists alike, Brad was able to capture this shot shortly after sunrise before the rush set in.
